SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) — K-pop girl group ELRIS made its debut on Thursday, releasing its first album amid media attention towards member Sohee who made a splash on a popular TV audition show.

The five member rookie team held a media showcase for its EP album “We, First” at the Seomyoo Center Event Hall in southern Seoul.

“Our goal this year is to win the rookie of the year award during the award season. I heard that we have to set our goals big. We will do our best,” member Bella told reporters.

She added: “We want to continue to show our pure and young image. We want to become an artist that’s capable in not just singing, but dance and performance as well.”

The album holds five songs, including title track “We, First.” The team is the first girl group produced by Hunus Entertainment.

The team’s name is wordplay on the name Alice of “Alice in Wonderland.” It is an acronym of the words excellent, lovely, rainbow, innocent and sister.

Even before her debut, member Sohee became a star in her own right after receiving huge acclaim over her performance in season six of TV audition show “K-Pop Star.” Earlier this month, Sohee released her solo single album “Spotlight” prior to her group debut.

“I had practiced for three years before debuting. I’m sorry that I debuted earlier alone,” said Sohee.

Sohee explained that she will pursue solo and group activities together “to present my other appeals as well.”
