‘Guardian’ sweeps five awards from U.S. Asian drama-streaming site

SEOUL, April 27 (Yonhap) — South Korea’s most-viewed cable TV series “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” has won five awards from an annual drama awards hosted by an American online Asian drama-streaming site.

The drama’s star Gong Yoo received best actor of 2016 in the fifth DramaFever Awards announced on its website on Thursday. Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na received best supporting actor and actress for their roles in the same drama.

The 2016-2017 tvN drama also clinched the best couple award and the best drama award in the melodrama category.

Song Hye-kyo won best actress for her lead role in the hit KBS 2TV drama “Descendants of the Sun.”

DramaFever is one of North America’s leading Korean drama streaming services with a monthly average of nearly 20 million users. The winners were chosen by the votes of some 3.2 million users.
